Sandra León Alfonso

I am a political scientist working as associate professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Carlos III University. I am the director of the Carlos III – Juan March Institute (IC3JM) and the co-director of the IC3JM Master in Social Sciences. My research interests are in the area of federalism, comparative institutions, distributive politics, intergovernmental relations, party system nationalisation and economic voting and my research has been published in journals such as the British Journal of Political Science, the European Journal of Political Research or International Organization, among others. In November 2020 I was awarded the I Award for the best Paper on Decentralization and Self-Government by the Institut d’Estudis d’Autogovern.
