Paul Atwell

I received my Ph.D. in Public Policy and Political Science from the University of Michigan and my Bachelors in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin. My research centers on the complex social and psychological forces that drive political behavior (primarily) in the Global South, as well as how parties shape and rely on them to their electoral benefit. This brings together several theoretical approaches including Social Identity Theory, network analysis, political/mass communications, and Affective Intelligence theory. My work has recently been published in the American Economic Review and the American Journal of Political Science.
