Patrick Kraft

Patrick Kraft's research is situated at the intersection of political behavior, causal inference, and quantitative text analysis. He leverages experimental designs, social media data, and natural language processing to explore the psychological underpinnings of political attitudes, reasoning, and behavior. For instance, one of his current research projects titled "We Need to Talk: Correcting Misinformation Through Political Discussions" uses a combination of natural, laboratory, and survey experiments to study how different types of political conversations impact the spread (and potential correction) of people’s misperceptions related to climate change and COVID-19. Overall, Patrick's research aims to provide answers to urgent questions including how to effectively combat misinformation, how moral rhetoric exacerbates political polarization, or how to overcome gender biases in politics.
